The original Curry Leaf Cafe in Brighton's Lanes

The original Curry Leaf Cafe is located in the heart of Brighton's bustling Lanes, just a couple of minutes' walk from the beach. This colourful, laid-back 75-seat dining space – decked out with exposed brick walls, wooden tables and vintage Indian design touches – operates as a cafe-cum-lunch spot during the day, offering a range of coffees, teas, snacks and traditional South Indian street food, as well as more substantial meals such as thali platters, dosas and Masala-battered fish 'n chips. In the evenings diners can experience the cafe’s small but diverse dinner menu of tandoor-grilled meats, street food dishes and expertly spiced curries, accompanied by Brighton's best range of craft beers and spiced cocktails.

All ingredients are sourced from local farms where possible, and around half of the menu is vegetarian. A wide selection of vegan and gluten-free dishes is also on offer throughout the day, along with a collection-only takeaway lunch (Monday to Friday, 12-3pm) and takeaway dinner (Sunday to Thursday, 6-10pm) service.

Since opening in 2014, Curry Leaf Cafe has garnered praise from national newspapers such as The Telegraph and The Guardian (which named the cafe in its top ten places to drink in Brighton) and won 'Best Newcomer, South Coast' at the 2015 Asian Curry Awards. It has also been listed as a 'Local Gem' in the 2016 & 2017 editions of the Waitrose Good Food Guide
